Description
Inspired by Maurizio Cattelan’s Comedian (2019), this artwork features a jar of El Mordjene hazelnut spread, which has been banned from importation in Europe due to its composition. The jar is taped to the wall, with two red pieces of tape in the shape of crosses symbolizing this ban.
The jar of spread is not empty – it still contains the spread, allowing the buyer to consume it if they wish. It has never been opened, preserving the integrity of the object while questioning the relationship between regulation, consumption, and art.
